Noah's 4th of July

Noah had a fantastic 4th of July weekend. We spent the holiday in Texas with my parents - aka MEME and PEARPAW. We flew out and once again people commented on how well Noah flew - he generally does pretty good on a plane - so far anyway. He started his weekend by exploring their garden - full of okra, tomatoes, green onions, and melons. He even pulled out a carrot! We washed it off and he took a few bites - seemed to like it like that - cant get any fresher!

Then we put him in the pool and he did pretty well until he went under for the first time ever - shocked him a bit and then he was pretty much done with the pool for the day. He wanted to play with his bucket full of pool water instead...

We went to a fish fry at Marilyn's house and Noah played in her beautiful back yard. She has the most beautiful flowers! Noah loved her sprinkler and played with it for almost an hour - he cant go underwater with a sprinkler so those are his friends! He had a good ol time running through the water and chasing after his big beach ball. Then we picked up the sprinkler and ended up in this position so of course I had to get a picture!

the running man...

Noah with his Grandpa Wes!
All that water and excitement zapped him out so we went back home and popped fireworks. At first Noah didnt know what to think about them - he would stiffen his whole body up and DID NOT want Mommy to let him go! He was ok with the sparklers but the big ones that whizz and buzz just didnt empress him too much - so it was late and off to bed he went...and he slept through the entire night. I dont know how cause the enitre neighborhood was popping fireworks and it was so loud!

The next day we had the pleasure of having Brian and Angela visit us for a few hours. We finally got a chance to meet Caden and he is ADORABLE!! The boys had a great time 'swimming' together and we want to say THANK YOU to Eric (Angela's brother) for flying everyone all the way to see us - it was so nice to finally get to visit and play with little Mr. Jones.

After that we just took it easy for a day or two - had lunch with Meme and Pearpaw and watched a lot of daytime TV. Noah started to run a fever that slowly got worse and ended up with everyone in a frenzy trying to get a hold of Dr's and pick up medicine before everyone closed! I took off in a blur with my grandpa driving 95 MPH to a whole other state to the closest Walmart pharmacy! A trip that I will never forget.....(I left Noah at home with the grandparents thank goodness!) THEN what we thought was an ear infection turned into a mild strep infection wich then turned into an allergic reaction to Amoxicillan wich turned into another trip to the Dr and pharmacy to get a new antibiotic. And then all was right in the world....Noah is just fine now and happy as can be! Other than the sick part (which even that was TOO bad) it was a very good trip - too short as they always are...but I really think Noah is at an age where he is starting to connect more to people and I really think he had a great time with Meme & Pearpaw. He even whispers "PAWPAW" when he sees pictures of them together....

Actually he really tries very hard to say anything you say - so the time for precaution has arrived! He will use the same tone of voice, the same syllables, and sometimes even the same letter sounds...just maybe not in the right order!

The one thing that I am so happy we decided to do is teach Noah some Baby Sign Language - I cant describe how it feels to have him communicate with us already. He can say 'ALL DONE' when he is..well, all done with something. He will tell me when he is ready for a BATH, he tells me when he wants MILK (or juice), he knows when he sees a DUCK, and he will tell me when he wants to go to SLEEP, and the newest one - he will tell me when he wants MORE of something. He will do the sign for these things and try to say them - somethings he will just try to say because we dont know the sign for them, like OUTSIDE or dog, or cat. He just says these things without using the sign. But it really is a great feeling to know at least a part of what he is thinking! And his needs are being met without too much guess work -bonus!

Well - thats whats new in our neck of the woods! Hope you enjoyed the pictures!
